Comparison of the effects of marijuana legalization on mental health in selected countries
Stránecký, Jakub ; Nekola, Martin (advisor) ; Potůček, Martin (referee)
The topic of legalizing marijuana for recreational use is becoming increasingly relevant over time, not only worldwide but also in the Czech Republic. This trend began with the legalization of recreational marijuana in the United States, specifically in the states of Colorado and Washington in 2012. Subsequently in 2013 Uruguay became the first country to legalize marijuana throughout its entire territory. Since then, other U.S. states and countries such as Canada and Malta have joined the legalization movement. The most interesting development from the perspective of the Czech Republic is in Germany, where the legalization of cultivation and possession of marijuana for recreational use is planned from the year 2024. This, coupled with the growing support from experts and politicians advocating for marijuana legalization in the Czech Republic, could lead to the adoption of similar legislation. The legalization of marijuana raises a series of questions that need to be addressed before such a step is taken. Among the most common concerns associated with marijuana legalization are its impact on mental health and the potential increase in marijuana use among adolescents due to easier access to the drug. To answer these questions, it is essential to compare existing models of marijuana legalization...
Možnosti produkce a využití medicínského konopí na českém trhu
Kristen, Alan
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of medical cannabis treatment in the Czech Republic. The first part of the thesis discusses cannabis from the point of view of history, taxonomy, where the cannabis plant is described, and morphology, where the main active substances contained in cannabis are defined and described. The objective of the analytical part of the work was to evaluate the development of the medical cannabis commodity vertical and to compare the results with the situation in the State of Israel. The thesis chronologically shows the process of making medical cannabis available to patients in the Czech Republic and Israel, including legislative developments in both countries. The evaluation of the development of the vertical was carried out on basis of the collection of selected statistical data of individual countries during the past years, and subsequently a graphic comparison was created to determine the difference in the approaches to cannabis treatment of the two mentioned states. In the conclusion, the development of the production and consumption of medical cannabis in the Czech Republic is evaluated in comparison with the situation in the State of Israel.
Evaluation of hemp protein flours stability
NĚMCOVÁ, Hana
The aim of this diploma thesis is to explore the possibility of storage of hemp protein concentrates extracted by mechanical sifting of milled hemp (Cannabis sativa) seed cake. On the ground of previously acquired scientific knowledge two size fractions of hemp flour were prepared - protein flour containing particles lower than 180 m and fibre flour containing particles larger than 180 m. The two types of flours were subsequently stored for the period of eight months in different conditions. On the stored samples and on the samples before the attempted experience were evaluated following parameters: dry matter, fat content, titratable acidity, antioxidant activity and polyphenol content. The diploma thesis found out the evaluated parameters are statistically significantly affected by the flour's fraction. The type of storage has statistically significant effect on all the parameters, except of the antioxidant activity. The analysis showed that the storage is less suitable for fraction containing less than 180 m because the fraction containing particles less than 180 m is more likely to go rancid given to the larger fat content, shows lower antioxidant activity, contains less polyphenols and tends to become moister. Better outcomes were showed by samples stored in vacuum, of which samples stored at a temperature of 5 °C showed even better results. These samples revealed lower fat dissociation, lower acidity and higher antioxidant activity. However, 9 % moisture that could lead to higher microbial strain was observed.
Information and experience of the adult population with cannabis as a drug and as a medicine.
NĚMCOVÁ, Kateřina
The title of my diploma thesis is "Awareness and experience of the adult population with cannabis as a drug and as a medicine". It is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part includes two areas. The first one is related to cannabis as a drug. Therefore, it contains chapters on cannabis itself, its effects, users and the possible effects that could occur if used more frequently. Especially about the effects on the mental and physical conditions of the organism. The second area is focused on the aspects of treatment. How is cannabis used in the treatment, in what diseases it brings relief and how is the doctor's relationship to cannabis in the Czech Republic. It also discusses the process of its legalization. The practical part reveals the experience and awareness of adult respondents about cannabis as a drug and also their awareness of therapeutic effects. I obtained the data through a quantitative method. The anonymous questionnaire used for obtaining the information, is supplemented by hypotheses, which will be statistically evaluated in the results chapter.
Vliv technologie pěstování konopí setého (Canabis sativa L.) na kvalitu produktu a jeho využití.
BOUCHAL, Roman
The aim of this work was to statistically evaluate the effect of elicitors on the product and its use. In the first part of my thesis I dealt with botanical characteristics, agrotechnics, chemical composition, methods of determination of active substances, pharmacological effects of some active substances and others. In the practical part, I analyzed the influence of elicitors on the content of active substances. In addition to NanoFYT Si?, the ASA elicitor was used in three different concentrations, low [10-5 mol / l], medium [10-4 mol / l] and high [10-3 mol / l]. Finally, I made a statistical evaluation of individual experiments, comparison with other published experiments and a proposal of technology of cultivation and utilization of cannabis.
Alleopathic potential of plants of hemp (\kur{Cannabis sativa})
KLEJNA, Tomáš
The aim of the work was to compare the effects of germinating seeds, fresh flowers and aqueous extracts from fresh and dried parts (leaves and flowers) of hemp plants on seed germination of model crops - wheat, oats, white mustard, narrow-leaved lupin, white clover and lettuce in laboratory conditions. After 3 days of germination, the total length of the roots and shoots was measured. In individual variants, the relative allelopathic effect, average germination and statistical significance were evaluated. The effect of the distance of germinating seeds from samples of hemp material was also monitored. The effect of germinating hemp seeds, with the exception of oats, has not proved to be very significant. The effect of parts and aqueous extracts of hemp plants was as follows: -statistically significant inhibitory effect of the aqueous extract of the dried flower on the germination of wheat -statistically significant inhibitory effect of fresh flowers and extract from dried leaves of flowering plants on the germination of oats, there is also a statistically significant effect of the distance of germinating seeds from the sample of hemp material -statistically significant inhibitory effect of fresh flowers and extracts of fresh and dried leaves on the germination of white mustard, there is also an effect on average germination values -practically no or stimulating effect on the germination of legumes: narrow-leaved lupins and white clover -statistically significant inhibitory effect of fresh flowers and fresh leaf extract on lettuce germination, again with an effect on average germination
The International Drug Control Regime: A Case for Regime Theory and Issue Salience
Padilla Pineda, Eugenia Isabel ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Aliyev, Huseyn (referee) ; Dowd, Caitriona (referee)
Utilizing regime theory and the concept of issue salience, this study aims to show how the resilience of an agenda item can contribute to a change in an international security regime. The International Drug Control Regime's (IDCR) conventions and principles, rules and norms have been continuously contested over the past years. Several countries (Canada, Uruguay and some U.S. states) have moved forward with the legalisation of the recreational and medicinal use of cannabis, one of the drugs the regime has classified as 'highly dangerous', citing security, human rights and their citizen's preferences to explain their unilateral decision at the expense of the IDCR. The cannabis debate has become a salient issue in the IDCR, demonstrating patterns of change like internal contradictions, underlying structures of power and exogenous forces. This study will rely on a theoretical approach supported by a within-case historical analysis of the IDCR between 2009-2020, as well as discourse and documentary methods to assess how the salience of the cannabis debate to the regime's member-states can contribute to the possibility of a regime shift or change.
